AKU Fontein

The redevelopment of Gele Rijdersplein in Arnhem has brought new life to one of the city’s most iconic post-war public spaces.

At the heart of the project is the restored AKU fountain ensemble, originally designed in 1961 as a symbol of reconstruction, connection, and community. Together with the adjacent pergola, the monument has now been carefully reintroduced as a welcoming meeting place for both residents and visitors.

For this project, the AKU fountain and pergola were illuminated using the CLS Revo Series. The lighting design focuses on enhancing architectural rhythm, depth, and visibility while preserving the character of the monument and the surrounding public space. By adding controlled illumination to the ensemble, the square transforms after sunset into a warm, safe, and visually connected urban environment.

With robust IP67 performance, precise optics, and long-term reliability, the Revo Series was developed for demanding outdoor applications where architectural quality and durability go hand in hand.
