MUSEUMS AND GALLERIES

Good lighting in museums makes art shine and immerses visitors in an experience. At CLS, we see lighting as an art, and we develop our luminaires with this in mind. The result? Luminaires used in museums worldwide. The high quality and innovative techniques are highly valued by lighting designers and architects in the museum sector. Our luminaires are available in virtually limitless configurations with choices in control options, light beams and light colours. Changing exhibitions? Maximum flexibility is possible with fixtures with Zoom functionality and a Tunable White light source.

> EXHIBITION SPACES

A well-thought-out lighting plan allows art to come into its own. Our luminaires offer museums worldwide the opportunity to create an experience that enhances the art and takes visitors into the story. Naturally, we only work with the best components. The Jade Zoom, for example, is available with a Xicato Artist or a Bridgelux light source specially developed for CLS, which guarantees excellent colour reproduction across the entire spectrum. The zoom functionality and many available control options make adjusting lighting to a changing exhibition very easy.

> SHOWCASE LIGHTING

Limited space, objects of different sizes, lots of details – lighting display cases is, in itself, an art. The Focus series consists of three sizes of zoom spots. Take the Focus Micro, for example, with a zoom range of no less than 6 to 90 degrees. With a power consumption of only 1 watt and a light output of almost 90 lumens, the Focus Micro delivers an impressive performance. Thanks to the high efficiency, heat development is minimal. In addition, the zoom range and various control options ensure that lighting can be easily adjusted to changing exhibitions.

> EXPERIENCE AREAS

A visit to a museum is increasingly becoming an interactive experience. Most of our fixtures are not only available with ‘white’ light but also in a ColourFlow version. These RGBW and RGBA versions can create all imaginable colours. Control the fixtures accurately to a fraction of a second via DMX or wireless, without extra (data) infrastructure via Casambi. Furthermore, our fixtures can be put together entirely according to your wishes, so that you can work with one product to provide almost all lighting.

> OUTDOOR LIGHTING

In addition to an engaging experience in the museum, the exterior is often a unique building that also deserves attention. Good outdoor lighting increases the appeal for potential visitors and connects the experience inside with the outside. Our range of outdoor luminaires, the Revo Series, can be put together in an infinite number of ways. In addition to white light, the Revo Series is also available in a ColourFlow version, which can create almost all conceivable colours of light.

CONFIGURE THE IDEAL SOLUTION

One of the features of CLS fixtures is the many configuration options. From mounting options to control. For example, the Jade series can be configured in six steps.

Combined, the versions of the Jade have a choice of:

• Three different mounting options
• Ten control methods
• Three housing colours
• Twenty-eight LED colours
• Three different max. power versions
• Seven different beam angles or Zoom

> ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY

In close collaboration with international lighting designers, we have developed a wide range of LED luminaires whose specifications and application options perfectly match their use in museums, science centres and galleries. As a result, both lighting designers and architects from the museum sector are very enthusiastic about the luminaires’ specifications and extensive configuration options.

The contacts with museums worldwide ensure that we continue to develop. One of our latest developments, for example, is the Jade Zoom Tunable White rail fixture. Another example is the Focus Micro, with a zoom range of no less than 6-90 degrees in incredibly compact housing.

> QUALITY WITHOUT COMPROMISE

Our fixtures are developed and produced in the Netherlands. We only use the best components, and the modular design of our fixtures makes it easy to make upgrades or changes. With an expected lifespan of 50,000 hours, the interim replacement of light sources is consigned to history. The light output and colour remain excellent from the first moment to more than ten years of use.

> SPECIAL PROJECTS

Over the years, we have realized beautiful projects together with our customers. Some examples are classic museums such as the Scheepvaartmuseum in Amsterdam and interactive science museums such as We The Curious in Bristol. Natural history museums such as Naturalis and De Bastei are also equipped with CLS lighting. In addition to lighting for exhibition areas, we also offer high-quality lighting for facades. For example, the monumental building of the Museum of Ethnology has been illuminated with the CLS Revo ColourFlow.
