Forum

Forum Groningen in the Netherlands is a multipurpose building that was opened in November 2019. The Forum serves as a meeting place for the people of Groningen and even has its own debate room. The Forum building is also home to a film theatre called Forum Images, a Comic Museum, a restaurant on the top floor, places to study and a library. Forum Groningen has a special design with a slight pyramid-like shape and a large glass surface in the shape of a key. Next to Groningen’s iconic Martini tower, it is one of the tallest and most eye-catching buildings in the city. The Forum Groningen measures no less than 45 meters.

As early as 2014, CLS was asked to come up with a decorative lighting solution for a number of walls, based on sketches of light designer Bob van de Klaauw of CLS partner Lichtpunt.
In 2019, the project suddenly got on the fast track again, and the CLS R&D team was asked to develop a new armature with the code name Decostar.

The light source is a RGBW light source that we developed ourselves and that is controlled by a 4-channeled DMX driver that once again was developed by our own team. The integrated 24V DMX driver comes with RJ45 CAT5 connectors for easy connection of the system.

The effect of the lighting is extremely beautiful and even though it is brand new, many photographers have already snapped the most wonderful pictures of the Forum Groningen.
Are you a light designer or architect yourself, and would you like a custom-made lighting solution? Please do not hesitate to get in touch with our special projects team. (MOQ applies)
